Alexandre Gauthier reopens La Grenouillère after 15 months of renovations

Alexandre Gauthier reopens La Grenouillère after 15 months of renovations

Mathilde Bourge | 2/26/25, 1:46 PM

Alexandre Gauthier's Grenouillère, hit hard by flooding in northern France in late 2023, reopens in February 2025.

After more than a year of forced closure, La Grenouillère, Alexandre Gauthier's 5-toque restaurant, is set to reopen. Located in La Madelaine-sous-Montreuil, Pas-de-Calais, the restaurant was hit hard by flooding on the River Canche in late 2023. Devastated, it was forced to suspend operations and embark on a major renovation program. Fifteen months later, on February 28, 2025, the chef and his team will finally return to their stoves, with particular emotion.

A long-awaited return after a long ordeal

La Grenouillère is a gastronomic institution led by the culinary audacity of Alexandre Gauthier, Chef of the Year 2016. But bad weather brought this adventure to an abrupt halt.

During these long months of absence, Alexandre Gauthier was not idle. Solicited for numerous projects, he was notably chosen to design a menu for the opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. But his heart has always remained attached to his restaurant, and this reopening marks a return to basics for him.

A revival for a legendary address

While the structure of the restaurant has been preserved, the months of renovation work have been an opportunity for a complete overhaul. La Grenouillère is back in its place, true to itself, but with a few surprises in store. The restaurant reopened for bookings on February 6, and gourmets will once again be able to savour the chef's inventive and committed cuisine from February 28, 2025.

A new chapter begins for La Grenouillère, which, after this ordeal, emerges all the more resilient and inspiring.
