Gourmet Restaurant A well-chosen area - the Halles Saint-Louis - a brightly-lit room with no decorative excesses, a pleasant backyard, a devilishly bistro-style market cuisine, a vitamin-packed welcome and service provided by Isabelle Portugal, and a short wine list that will make you give up dry-january... Everything is in order to have the best time. In the evening, the focus is on tapas and "plates to share", but at lunchtime, the menu on the slate is convincing to say the least. In her small, open kitchen, Laëtitia Uguen (formerly of Le Globulle Rouge) whips up some delightful dishes. For example, a pan-fried cockles. A very simple starter... simply delicious. The cockles are ultra-fresh, cooked just right and spiced up with perfectly measured pimenton de la Vera and a few herbs that don't just make up the numbers. As for the homemade black pudding, it comes with a nice potato purée. In keeping with the fashion of the moment, the cardamom custard flan is a real winner. No wine list to speak of, but Isabelle's verbal suggestions. You can also head for the shelves, where some thirty bottles are on display. A very committed wine list, with mostly organic or natural wines selected by a local wine merchant ("La Cave à Jaja"). In the Loire Valley, Domaine du Pouce-pied, Domaine des Pierres Meslières, Pauline Lair wines, Alsace wines from Domaine Pépin by the Dietrich brothers, Cave Coopérative des Vignerons d'Estezargues...
