Hotel reopenings in 2025: addresses undergoing a makeover

Hotel reopenings in 2025: addresses undergoing a makeover

Christine Robalo | 1/15/25, 10:18 AM

Between in-depth renovations and new vocations, the year 2025 will see many French hotels rise from the ashes. From family homes transformed into intimate palaces to legendary addresses reinventing themselves, each project promises new encounters with travelers.

In 2025, the French hotel industry is opening up new horizons. A Breton manor house overlooking the sea, a boutique hotel with an intellectual soul in the Latin Quarter, a Renaissance building in Lyon under a prestigious banner, or a Provençal villa looking out over the Mediterranean?these are just some of the projects that aim to stand out in a competitive landscape, with the promise of making a lasting impression as soon as they reopen. Here's a brief overview of these announced metamorphoses.

Les Bassans: a Breton renaissance by the sea

Overlooking the beach at Trestrignel, this early 20th-century manor house begins a new chapter when it becomes Les Bassans. Formerly a family hotel renowned for its views over the Seven Islands archipelago, it joins Domaine de Fontenille. The French group, already present in Provence, Hossegor, Normandy and Menorca, favors places steeped in history with an atmosphere free of extravagance. On the agenda for this renaissance: 25 rooms facing the sea, where the lapping of the waves takes precedence over the superfluous. This is not Perros-Guirec's first high-end address, but this new arrival could offer a different kind of impetus to the Côte de Granit Rose, famous for its customs path and singularly nuanced rocks.

Hôtel Savoir, a new chapter opens in Saint-Germain-des-Prés

In March, the former Petit Belloy will give up its name to become Hôtel Savoir. The 20 rooms of this establishment, located in the heart of the emblematic Saint-Germain-des-Prés district, are being given a new lease of life under the leadership of Laune Architecture and the Madeho group (behind the Hôtel Pley and the Sookie in the Marais district). The ambition? To transform a "small neighborhood hotel" into an upscale establishment with modern style and comfort, paying tribute to the cultural richness of the Latin Quarter.

To achieve this, the common areas feature rare books, noble materials, vintage posters and a few literary treasures, a nod to the Sorbonne and nearby bookshops. This sober, meticulous metamorphosis should attract those looking for a human-scale base in the heart of the capital, between reminiscences of the past and the aspirations of today.

  • When? Reopening planned for March 2025

La Cour des Loges, a second wind under the Radisson Collection flag

In Vieux Lyon, a UNESCO World Heritage site, the Cour des Loges reopens after two years of renovation by architect Cécile Remond of Archipatrimoine & Developpement, to become France's first Radisson Collection Hotel. This labyrinth of buildings dating from the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, long the most beautiful address in the capital of Gaul, will house 61 rooms and suites, refurbished without betraying the historic character of the place. Chef Anthony Bonnet will orchestrate two restaurants: Les Loges, a gastro restaurant set in the large central courtyard, and Le Comptoir, a more casual bistro version. A bar, a smoking room and a spa inspired by the Roman baths (with swimming pool, whirlpools, sauna, hammam...) complete the experience, while the Grande Cour and several reception rooms offer spaces suitable for professional or festive gatherings. The result is a legendary address back in the spotlight, and a new lease of life in the heart of the capital des Gaules.

  • Where? 6 Rue du Bœuf, 69005 Lyon
  • When? Reopening scheduled for February 2025

Château de la Commaraine: Pommard's vineyards reclaim their rights

in Pommard, in a building dating back to 1112, Château de la Commaraine is preparing to emerge from a four-year closure. The Champagne Hospitality group, known for its sublime Royal Champagne Hôtel & Spa and the Barthélémy Hôtel & Spa in Saint-Barthélemy, has orchestrated the transformation of this estate into a five-star establishment. The first in Burgundy to be established in the heart of a wine-growing appellation. by the end of summer, 37 rooms and suites will offer views over the rows of vines, and some will even overlook the winery. Two restaurants overseen by Christophe Raoux, Meilleur Ouvrier de France and disciple of Alain Ducasse, will extend this immersion in the heart of the terroir, while the spa and swimming pool will open onto the surrounding countryside. Beyond the walls, the stay takes on a special dimension: cellar visits, participation in vineyard work or tastings, all activities that place wine at the center of the experience. The work, carried out with the approval of Bâtiments de France, has preserved the white Burgundy stone and taken care to respect the regional identity to blend in with the landscape and village of Pommard.

  • Where? 24 Grande Rue, 21630 Pommard
  • When? Scheduled to open in September 2025

Villa Miraé, a new departure at Cap d'Antibes

On the Cap d'Antibes peninsula, Villa Miraé is designed as a Provençal mansion revisited by Maison Numéro 20 architect Oscar Lucien Ono. Its 35 rooms, including 8 suites with private terraces, are organized around three color ranges: the intense blue of the sea blends with the luminous green of the park and the solar hues of Burgundy stone. inside, carved wood, natural linen and Murano glass rub shoulders with frescoes and mosaics created by local craftsmen, underscoring the Mediterranean atmosphere. The hotel's backbone is formed by its gardens, which extend around a swimming pool and seafront solarium, in the spirit of Relais & Châteaux. On the dining side, two tables draw inspiration from the region's traditions to offer sun-drenched cuisine, while a bar extends the evening under the azure sky. In terms of service, Inwood Hotels will distill a discreet but upscale attention to detail, in the image of the Riviera.

  • Where? 770 Chemin de la Garoupe, 06160 Antibes
  • When? Reopening planned for June 2025
