A gastronomic experience in the air? It's possible (and it's not on a plane)!
Dinner in the Sky has taken up this crazy challenge. The aim was to transform a gondola into a table d'hôte equipped to serve a gourmet meal with a renowned chef at your service.
In 2006, a Belgian company launched this themed restaurant, a unique table d'hôte suspended 50 meters from the ground by a crane. Since then, the Dinner in the Sky experience has been exported around the world. In all, at least sixty countries have seen the crane pass over their territory. In France, the aerial table has already made several trips, including to Paris and the Arcachon Basin. Its next adventure in France will take place on the Côte d'Azur, not far from Nice, in Mougins.
French gastronomic excellence for a unique experience
To enhance the quality of its proposal, the Belgian company has opted for an haute gastronomie offering with top chefs. The 35 prestigious chefs selected take charge of the evening from A to Z, from the creation of the dishes to the service. During Dinner in the Sky in Mougins, they will take turns between lunch, snack and dinner. Six of them are Meilleurs Ouvriers de France, and some are multi-toque, like Stéphane Buron, chef at Chabichou (4 toques) in Courchevel, and Justin Schmitt, chef at Château Eza (3 toques) in Èze.
Dinner in The Sky in Mougins: how does it work?
The gourmet experience in the sky is divided into three parts, whether you come for lunch, dinner or even a snack. The service begins with the reception of guests in the VIP lounge, before they are settled into their seats for a good hour above ground before, finally, enjoying a little time on the ground after the experience, just long enough to get their feet firmly back on the ground! On the tasting side, lunch and dinner packages feature a three-course menu prepared by the chef of the day, with a wine and food pairing. The afternoon tea works the same way, simply replacing the meal with a tasting of pastries and/or chocolates.
To experience this adventure, you'll need to spend 295 euros per person for lunch or dinner, and 150 euros for the afternoon snack. From a timing point of view, Dinner in The Sky is a well-oiled machine, with two services for each time of day (lunch, afternoon and evening) and precise timetables to be found on the dinnerinthesky.fr website.
For the curious, the Belgian company has diversified its offerings to cater for all tastes. It is now possible to book santa (Christmas) in the sky, marriage in the sky, movie (film) in the sky and even concert in the sky.
